Artist Harpa Einarsdóttir called Ziska, graduated as a fashion designer from Iceland school of art and design, spring 2005, but works mostly as a multimedia artist along with other projects. Her work is filled with horses, ladies with streams of tears who seem to be vomiting jewels, and many a woodland animal. There are stars and mythical symbols and waterfalls and goats on leads and all kinds of awesome mythical goodness.

Drawing on mythology and fantasy, Ziska draws on symbolism in her works, which include both illustration, mixed multimedia and manipulated photography. Still hailing from her native Iceland and listing ‘running barefoot in moss’ as key to keeping her mind glowing, Ziska’s works seem to find a balance between the ethereal, creepy and downright magic.

Ziska´s exhibition Skulls & Halos is opening at the Lost Horse gallery at Hverfisgata 71 on the 16th of October at 19:00.

What is it all about: Mysticism and magic, earth, creatures, love and balance. There has to be evil so there can be good. Accept your inner demons, flirt with them instead of fighting them.
